The Canadian government said that it will take in 40,000 Afghan refugees and requested other countries to expand their assistance with refugee resettlement.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted, "Canada is welcoming 40,000 refugees and we're pushing countries to step up their help to resettle refugees safely.

This happened following PM Trudeau's discussion of the Afghan issue with G20 leaders.

"Today, I discussed the situation in Afghanistan with G20 Leaders. The International Community is dedicated to Upholding Human Rights, particularly that of Women and Girls, and we'll keep raising our voices to guarantee that Afghans can get humanitarian aid, the prime minister stated in a series of Tweets.
