News Synopsis

On Sunday, September 11, Zero Emissions Byron will host an Electric Vehicle Expo at the Bangalow Showgrounds, Australia, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. According to organizers, there will be a variety of new electric vehicles, as well as used EVs, VW Kombis that have been converted to EVs, and a number of privately owned EVs with their owners on hand. Electric bikes and other forms of electric transportation will be available for testing.

‘Come along and see the latest vehicles available in Australia. Talk to vehicle dealers, as well as local owners and EV experts and get all your questions answered’,  ” says Muriel Watt, ZEB co-convenor.

Zero Emissions Byron is a non-profit community organization that aims to accelerate the transition to zero emissions in the Byron Shire in the energy, buildings, land use, transportation, and waste sectors by 2025. Zero Emissions Byron (ZEB) aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Byron Shire region to zero within ten years. ZEB focuses on the five key sectors of emissions: energy, buildings, transportation, land use, and waste.

Zero Emissions Byron (ZEB) was founded in March 2015 at a public meeting attended by the CEO of Melbourne Think Tank, Beyond Zero Emissions, the Byron Shire Mayor, and members of the community. The Byron Shire Community, the Byron Shire Council, Beyond Zero Emissions, and the Centre for Social Change collaborated to create ZEB.

During the first two years, the emphasis was on developing internal structure and capacity; relationships with key stakeholders; the Byron Shire region's emissions inventory; the regional strategy for emissions mitigation; and initial projects.
