The news of numerous layoffs in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has put the Etech company Byju in the spotlight for the past few days. The company is currently being accused of firing employees in its native Karnataka. According to the Karnataka State IT/ITES Employees Union(KITU), Byju is firing staff at its headquarters in Bengaluru. The employees are reportedly being told to quit immediately or risk being fired, which will certainly have an impact on their career prospects.

According to KITU secretary Suraj Nidhiyanga, Byju's employees were being pushed to retire even if they did not want to. The company's HR division is attempting to coerce resignations from the staff.

However, he also said that there is no written notice from the company regarding layoffs. Quoting sources, it has been said that for the last week, the Human Resources Department has been calling the employees and asking them to resign voluntarily. After massive layoffs at Thiruvananthapuram office drew media attention and sacked employees met Kerala Labor Minister Shivankutty, Byju's management team has offered some employees the option of transfer.

The company said in the statement that every employee who is affected by this restructuring is being personally informed with sympathy, which they deserve and need at this time.
