News Synopsis

BYD (Build Your Dreams) India has reached a significant milestone, celebrating 11 years since introducing the country’s first purely electric bus in Chennai on August 20, 2013. This pioneering move marked the beginning of a journey that has seen BYD become a key player in India’s electric vehicle (EV) market. To commemorate this achievement, BYD has extended the introductory pricing offer on its Atto 3 Dynamic variant, making it more accessible to Indian consumers. This article delves into BYD’s journey, the Atto 3’s features, and the impact of this pricing strategy on the Indian EV market.

BYD’s 11-Year Journey in India: A Legacy of Innovation

BYD’s introduction of the first electric bus in India was a landmark event, setting the stage for the company’s long-term commitment to advancing electric mobility in the country. Over the past 11 years, BYD has expanded its product lineup, established a network of dealerships, and positioned itself as a leader in the EV segment. The company’s dedication to sustainability and innovation is evident in its continued efforts to bring advanced electric vehicles to the Indian market.

Extending the BYD’s Atto 3 Price Deal: Making EVs More Accessible

In celebration of its 11-year journey in India, BYD has extended the introductory pricing offer on its Atto 3 Dynamic variant. The updated pricing makes the Atto 3 more affordable, with prices starting at Rs 24.99 lakh. This move is aimed at increasing the accessibility of electric vehicles to a broader audience, encouraging more consumers to make the switch to sustainable transportation. The Atto 3, which was launched in July 2024, has already garnered significant attention, with over 600 bookings for its Cosmos Black edition within the first month.

BYD Atto 3: A Breakdown of Variants and Pricing

The BYD Atto 3 is available in three variants: Dynamic, Premium, and Superior. Each variant is designed to cater to different consumer needs and preferences, offering a range of features and pricing options. The Dynamic variant, which is the most affordable option, is priced at Rs 24.99 lakh. The Premium variant is positioned between the two, offering additional features and performance enhancements, while the Superior variant tops the range, priced at Rs 33.99 lakh. The significant price difference between the Dynamic and Superior variants is primarily due to the difference in battery capacity and performance.

Performance and Power: What Sets the Atto 3 Apart

The BYD Atto 3 is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is standard across all three variants. This motor delivers a maximum power output of 150 kW and a peak torque of 310 Nm, ensuring a robust performance across the board. The Dynamic variant, despite being the most affordable, offers impressive acceleration, reaching 100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds. The Premium and Superior variants perform even better, achieving the same acceleration in just 7.3 seconds. This level of performance positions the Atto 3 as a competitive option in the electric SUV market.

Battery Technology: The Heart of the Atto 3

One of BYD Auto’s unique selling points (USP) is its Blade Battery technology, which is also featured in the Atto 3. The battery technology varies across the three variants, offering different levels of performance and charging capabilities. The Dynamic variant is equipped with a 49.92 kWh battery, which can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 50 minutes using a DC charger. An AC charger can fully charge the battery in approximately 8 hours. The Premium and Superior variants, on the other hand, come with a larger 60.48 kWh battery, which offers a longer driving range and can be recharged to 80% in a similar time frame of 50 minutes using a DC charger, with an AC charger taking 9.5 to 10 hours.

Driving Range: Meeting the Needs of Indian Consumers

The driving range of an electric vehicle is a critical factor for consumers, especially in a country like India, where infrastructure for EV charging is still developing. The Atto 3’s Dynamic variant offers a driving range of 468 kilometers, according to the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The Premium and Superior variants offer an even longer range, with a capability of up to 521 kilometers. This extended range ensures that the Atto 3 meets the needs of both urban and long-distance drivers, making it a versatile option for a wide range of consumers.

BYD’s Expansion in India: Building a Strong Presence

Since its inception in India in 2007, BYD has launched three key products: the BYD Seal, BYD Atto 3, and the all-new e6. These vehicles represent BYD’s commitment to bringing advanced electric mobility solutions to the Indian market. To further strengthen its presence, BYD has established 26 showrooms across 23 cities in India, providing consumers with greater access to its products and services. This expansion strategy is part of BYD’s broader goal of increasing its market share and becoming a dominant player in the Indian EV market.

Conclusion: A Promising Future for BYD in India

As BYD celebrates 11 years of innovation and growth in India, the extension of the Atto 3 price deal reflects the company’s commitment to making electric vehicles more accessible to Indian consumers. With its advanced technology, competitive pricing, and strong performance, the Atto 3 is poised to make a significant impact in the Indian market. As BYD continues to expand its product lineup and dealership network, the future looks promising for the company’s continued success in India.
