News Synopsis

According to research from the Block, the base price for the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT topped the CryptoPunks for the first time. The lowest price for Bored Ape reported on Wednesday was 53.9 ether ($215,350) compared to 52.69 ($210,515) ether for a CryptoPunk.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club is a collection of 10,000 NFTs that was launched this year, whereas CryptoPunks is the original NFT collection that came out in 2017. The report shows that the floor price of Bored Ape has been slowly rising over the course of the year, catching up to CryptoPunks.

CoinTelegraph has said that the increase in prices may have happened due to Bored Ape owners having full commercial license to their NFTs, whereas CryptoPunks do not. Along with this, the Bored Ape also has buy-in from celebrities and athletes like NBA superstar  Stephen Curry. Bored Aoe has also teamed up with major labels like Universal Music, and sports brand Adidas.

Research from CoinResearch says that the NFT sales have soared throughout 2021 and are expected to be $17.7 by the end of the year.
