News Synopsis

The latest crash of Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by China Eastern Airlines Corp. has shattered Boeing’s plans of recovery in China. The latest crash has again raised concerns about the company’s best-selling family of planes. The incident has extended one of the most difficult periods in Boeing’s history. The crashed 737 nose-dived into mountainous terrain with 132 people on board in South China. Following the crash, the airline company has grounded all Boeing 737 in its fleet. The crash has again brought everyone's attention back to Boeing after two of its 737 Max jets crashed in 2018 and 2019, in which 346 people lost their lives, and this eventually led to one of the longest groundings in aviation history. Even though the latest incident didn’t involve a Max, it has however again raised concerns about the safety of Boeing airplanes. The Company had been on the verge of returning its Max aircraft to commercial service in the country. China was the first country whose regulators grounded the model in 2019. Boeing has been suffering a loss in China consecutively for three years because of these restrictions on its Max series.
