BMW rolls out 100,000th Made in India Car

German luxury car-maker BMW launched its 100,000th Made in India car on Friday at its adjacent Singaperumalkoil plant. The BMW Individual 740 Li M Sport Edition has received a special badge marking the milestone, according to the company's announcement here.

Managing Director OF BMW Group Plant, Thomas Dose has said that it is great joy and pride for us to as the 1,00,000th Made in India car drives out of its assemble lines. This accomplishment is a result of the team’s hard work, efficiency and consistency which ensures that every BMW or MINI Car locally produced here in Chennai is of the same international quality standards as any other BMW plant across the world.

He said highly skilled employees, state-of-the-art technology as well as advanced manufacturing processes and a keen interest in sustainability are essential factors for this success. 

The Chennai plant, which started operations in March 2007, celebrated its 15th anniversary this year and increased the number of locally produced vehicles to 13. The system runs on 100% green power. He added that the Chennai plant of the BMW Group looks forward to raising the bar in sustainable manufacturing excellence further as the India story grows.
