News Synopsis

On Monday, the President of the United States of America (POTUS) Joe Biden, once again warned the US companies of a possible Russia-based cyberattack. He has advised all the companies to ramp up their cyber security measures to effectively counter these attacks. The US government said Russia will probably carry out these attacks in retaliation for the severe economic sanctions it has imposed on it. U.S. President Joe Biden in a statement said: "It's part of Russia's playbook." U.S. President’s top cybersecurity aide, Anne Neuberger, who is the President's deputy national security adviser for cyber and emerging technologies expressed her concerns as some critical infrastructure entities have not taken alerts seriously from federal agencies to fix known problems in software that could be exploited by Russian hackers. She, in her statement, said: "Notwithstanding these repeated warnings, we continue to see adversaries compromising systems that use known vulnerabilities for which there are patches. That makes it far easier for attackers than it needs to be."
