BCCI to Offer Rs 49 Lakh for Ball Bowled from 2023 to 2027

News Synopsis

After selling the media rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Rs 48,390 crore in 410 games in the 2023-2027 cycle, BCCI has an astonishing amount of Rs 49 lakh each ball bowled, and Rs 2.95 crore per over in the next season of the Indian Premier League.

All IPL games from 2023 onwards will help to earn Rs 118 crore, almost double that of Indian home games, making the world's wealthiest cricket boards will be even wealthy.

According to a five-year contract worth Rs 6,138 crore signed by Star India in 2018, the average value for each home game in India is Rs 60 crore. Notably,  in the previous cycle from 2018 to 2022, BCCI earned about Rs 55 crore from each IPL game.

In the first three-day electronic auction by BCCI, Disney-Star retained the TV media rights and Viacom 18 acquired digital ownership of the 2023-27 cycle of the Indian Premier League in the Indian subcontinent.

Specifically, for the first time, BCCI split IPL's television and digital rights and offered bidders four packages. (A) India Subcontinent Television, (B) India Subcontinent Digital, (C) India Digital Non-Exclusive Special Package, and (D) Rest of the World.
