Bajaj Chetak is set to make a big comeback in India’s electric scooter market with a new model launching in early 2026. Expected to offer better range, faster charging, updated design, and smart features, the upcoming Chetak aims to strengthen Bajaj’s presence in the growing EV segment.

Bajaj Chetak 2026: A New Electric Scooter on the Horizon

India’s electric scooter market is expanding rapidly, with multiple brands and models entering the segment. One of the most popular scooters of the 80s and 90s, the Bajaj Chetak, has reinvented itself as a modern electric scooter and is now among the top-performing EV two-wheelers in the country.

Bajaj has officially confirmed a brand-new Chetak model, set to launch in early 2026. This announcement was highlighted during Bajaj’s FY26 Q2 conference call, which was filed with the BSE. According to vehicle registration data, the Chetak became India’s best-selling electric scooter in October 2025, reflecting its growing popularity among Indian buyers.

Why Electric Scooters Are Popular in India

Rising fuel prices, lower operating costs, and environmentally friendly performance have made electric scooters a preferred choice in India. However, many buyers still seek trusted brands, and the Chetak name has been reliable for decades, making it a popular choice for new EV buyers.
