The gap between one of the well renowned Indian automobile companies in India-Tata Motors and the biggest automobile manufacturer in India- Maruti Suzuki is diminishing each month. In the month of April this year, Tata Motors registered a growth of 74% in its sales whereas Maruti Suzuki reported a decline of 6% decline in the same time span.

The rise of Tata Motors has been absolutely phenomenal and its sales increased from 35,300 units in December 2021, to 72,500 units in April 2022. The sales included around 30,900 commercial vehicles and 41,600 passenger vehicles. On a year-on-year basis, Tata Motors registered a growth of 74% when compared to April 2021, with its sales surging from 41,700 units.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota Motors, and Kia Motors were the other automobile manufacturers that registered a growth in their sales number. Other carmakers such as Hyundai Motors, MG Motors, and Honda Motors also reported a decline in their sales in the same time period. Recently, Tata Motors announced a price hike for its passenger vehicles in April 2022 by around 1.1%, claiming that the increase in prices is because of the increase in input costs.
