News Synopsis

According to a study, the privacy changes Apple made on iOS 14 to prevent apps from tracking user data didn't completely stop developers from this illegal practice.

The study of 1,759 iOS apps from the United Kingdom App Store earlier than and after Apple applied the most important privacy features last year observed that Apple`s new rules stay in large part as much as it guarantees in making tracking extra difficult.

Researchers have found real-life evidence that apps use "server-side code" to calculate identifiers derived from each other's fingerprints. Despite positive progress in the last few months and years, especially through Apple's initiative, there's still a lot to do when it comes to protecting app data.

Researchers have complained that while violations of various aspects of privacy and privacy laws in apps remain widespread, the enforcement of existing privacy laws against such practices is sporadic.

The study also revealed that the Privacy Nutrition Labels of Apple were often inaccurate and currently misleading for consumers.

To protect user privacy, Apple introduced two important changes in iOS 14 last year, App Tracking Transparency (ATT), an essential opt-in system that enables tracking on iOS, and Privacy Nutrition Labels, which discloses the type of data processed by each app.
