Apple Sets All-Time Revenue Record in India, Says CEO John Ternus
Apple has reported its strongest-ever quarterly revenue in India, highlighting the country's growing importance to its global business. During the company's latest earnings call, CEO John Ternus confirmed that Apple achieved an all-time revenue record in India during the July-September 2026 quarter.
The company's performance was supported by demand across its major product and services categories, including the iPhone, Mac and services business. Apple also reported strong growth in customers upgrading to newer iPhone models, with India among the markets setting records for upgrades.
Although Apple did not disclose its India-specific revenue figures, its latest financial results indicate strong performance across several key markets.
Apple Reports Record Revenue in India in Q4 2026
Speaking during the earnings call, John Ternus said Apple had achieved September-quarter revenue records in both developed and emerging markets. India also registered its highest-ever revenue for the period.
Globally, Apple reported revenue of $114.5 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, compared with $102.5 billion in the corresponding period last year. For the full financial year, the company's revenue reached a record $479 billion, up from $416 billion a year earlier.
The company attributed its performance to demand across its product portfolio and services ecosystem. However, it did not provide a separate revenue breakdown for the Indian market.
iPhone Upgrades Drive Apple's Growth in India
The iPhone remained one of the major contributors to Apple's performance during the September quarter. According to Ternus, the company recorded its highest-ever number of iPhone upgraders globally during the period. The United States, China mainland and India also reported September-quarter records for customers switching to newer iPhone models.
Apple's latest iPhone launches may have contributed to the increase in demand. The company introduced the iPhone 18 Pro series and the iPhone Duo on September 9, 2026. While the iPhone Duo went on sale in October, the iPhone 18 Pro models were available during the September quarter.
The launch of new models, combined with demand from existing customers upgrading older devices, likely supported iPhone sales in India.
Globally, iPhone revenue increased 17 per cent year-on-year to $57.6 billion in the quarter.
Active iPhone User Base Reaches Record High
Apple CFO Kevan Parekh also highlighted the growth in the company's active iPhone installed base, which represents the number of iPhones currently in use.
According to Parekh, the active installed base reached an all-time high. He also said the iPhone recorded its best year for upgrades globally, with several markets, including India, the United States, China mainland and Japan, reporting record numbers.
Parekh further noted that the iPhone was among the top-selling models in several regions, including India. This indicates the continued strength of Apple's smartphone business and its ability to attract both new buyers and existing customers upgrading their devices.
Mac Business Also Records Strong Growth in India
Apart from the iPhone, Apple's Mac business contributed to its record performance in India. During the earnings call, Parekh said the company recorded double-digit Mac growth across developed and emerging markets, with India and Southeast Asia achieving all-time revenue records.
He described fiscal year 2026 as the Mac business's best financial year in developing markets, supported by record customer upgrades and purchases from people buying a Mac for the first time.
Globally, Mac revenue increased 24 per cent year-on-year to $10.8 billion during the quarter, despite supply-related constraints. The MacBook Neo and MacBook Pro were among the products supporting the business.
The performance highlights the growing demand for Apple's computers in markets such as India, where the company is expanding its presence across different product categories.
Apple's Services Business Reaches Record Revenue
Apple's services division also delivered strong results during the September quarter. The business generated an all-time quarterly revenue of $31.6 billion, registering 10 per cent growth compared with the same period last year.
The company said its services business achieved record revenue in most of the markets it tracks, including India and Latin America.
The services segment includes Apple's digital ecosystem and offerings, which complement its hardware products and help strengthen customer engagement.
Apple Pay Launches in India with Axis Bank
During the earnings call, Ternus also discussed the launch of Apple Pay in India. The payment service was introduced in the country on September 30, 2026, in partnership with Axis Bank.
Ternus described the service as a convenient and secure payment option for customers in one of the world's largest markets. He added that Apple Pay is now available in more than 90 markets globally.
The India launch marks another step in Apple's expansion of its services ecosystem in the country.
Conclusion
Apple's record September-quarter revenue in India reflects growing demand for its products and services. Strong iPhone upgrades, rising Mac sales and the expansion of services such as Apple Pay have strengthened its position in the market. With its active iPhone user base reaching a new high, India remains an important growth market for the technology company.
