News Synopsis

According to sources,  with knowledge of the situation, the US-based tech giant Apple plans to reshuffle its worldwide business management to put more of a focus on India.

India will now have its own sales zone at Apple for the first time.

The Cupertino-based iPhone manufacturer reportedly decided to promote Ashish Chowdhary, who currently oversees India, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, East Europe, and Africa, after Hugues Asseman, who was in charge of those regions, retired.  Chowdhary will now directly report to Michael Fenger, Apple's head of product sales.

The reporting of regional sales in the public financial statements will not be impacted by the management changes. India is currently included in the Europe category of the regional sales statistics, along with Africa and the Middle East.

Indian Market

India experienced robust double-digit revenue increase year over year and a record quarterly rise, the tech giant reported during its most recent results call. The corporation had a 5% fall in overall sales at the same time as the nation's revenue reached a new high. India is now a significant market for corporations as a result. India serves as the company's sales engine as well as a key player in the creation of new products.

Apple will produce in India

Apple is collaborating with its manufacturing partner Hon Hai Precision Industries to establish new iPhone production facilities in the nation in addition to moving key suppliers there. The business also operates national online storefronts, and it intends to open its first physical location this year.

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao spoke by phone last week to discuss a transaction that might result in over one lakh employment being created over a ten-year period. Also, Apple intends to begin producing iPhones at a brand-new 300-acre factory in Karnataka, which will generate around one lakh employment.
