News Synopsis

Tech giant Apple has reportedly postponed augmented reality (AR) headsets and will likely launch at the beginning of the next year. GSM Arena reports that supply chain constraints and tech giants hesitating to release their first AR device in limited stock have forced the company to postpone the date again.

Initial expectations for the first-year sales are around 1 to 1.5 million, which is a fairly ambitious goal, the report said.

AR and VR glasses aren't new, but Apple's $2,000 solution is the first in the premium segment and another reason not to release the device in limited stock in the first place. According to a recent report, the headset has an advanced micro OLED display.

Micro-OLED displays are built directly on-chip wafers rather than on glass substrates, resulting in thinner, smaller, and more energy-efficient displays. Micro-OLED displays provide much faster response times in the microsecond range. It is suitable for AR and VR applications.
