News Synopsis

Anita Anand has become the second woman to be appointed as Canada’s Minister of Defence. The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau announced his new cabinet on Tuesday and in this Anita Anand was the new Minister of Defence. 

Anita Anand has served as the Minister of Public Service and Procurement in 2019. She has been promoted to the critical defence portfolio for successfully procuring Covid-19 vaccines for the country and after being praised for her work by Trudeau. She replaced Harjit Sajjan, who seems to have been demoted and was announced as the Minister of International Development and Minister Responsible for Pacific Economic Development.
