News Synopsis

Amazon India has set a new benchmark during its ongoing Great Indian Festival 2025, attracting an unprecedented 2.76 billion customer visits—the highest in the event’s history. The e-commerce giant reported remarkable participation from Tier 2 and 3 cities, reflecting the growing strength of India’s digital retail ecosystem beyond metros.

Amazon India Record-Breaking Traffic and Engagement

Amazon India announced that this year’s Great Indian Festival has achieved record-breaking engagement across multiple metrics, including customer visits, seller participation, and savings. With five days still left in the month-long sale, the platform has already facilitated over ₹1,000 crore in customer savings through bank offers, GST benefits for sellers, and cashback rewards.

The company highlighted that over 70% of total visits came from Tier 2 and 3 cities, showcasing strong digital adoption in smaller towns and rural markets.

Massive Growth Across Product Categories

According to Saurabh Srivastava, Vice President at Amazon India, sellers and brand partners have witnessed multi-fold growth across various categories, including:

  • Smartphones and consumer electronics

  • Home and kitchen appliances

  • Beauty and fashion products

This surge reflects the platform’s wide product range and its ability to cater to evolving customer preferences across regions.

Record Seller Participation from Small Cities

Amazon reported its highest-ever number of sellers registering sales during this year’s event. Sellers from smaller cities like Kangra, Haridwar, Muzaffarpur, Jamnagar, Darjeeling, Shimoga, and Salem contributed significantly to the growth.

More than two-thirds of participating SMBs (small and medium businesses) came from Tier 2 and 3 cities, marking a significant shift in e-commerce penetration across India’s heartland.

Amazon Bazaar Doubles Seller Participation

The company’s Amazon Bazaar—a dedicated store for ultra-affordable products—saw over two times growth in seller participation this year.

  • More than 50% of Bazaar sellers reported their best-ever single-day sales.

  • The number of sellers crossing ₹1 lakh in sales grew 15 times year-on-year.

  • 18 states and Union Territories, including Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh, recorded their highest-ever seller sales milestones.

Faster Deliveries for Prime Members

Amazon’s logistics network expanded significantly during the sale period, leading to a sharp acceleration in delivery times.

  • Over 40 million products were delivered the same or next day, up 60% and 22% year-on-year, respectively.

  • Same- and next-day deliveries in metro cities increased by 29%, while two-day deliveries in Tier 2 and 3 cities grew 37%.

  • Nearly 70% of new Prime sign-ups came from smaller towns, underlining Amazon’s growing reach beyond major metros.

Amazon Business Sees Strong Growth

Amazon Business, the platform’s B2B arm, also registered strong performance during the festival.

  • New business customer sign-ups rose 30% year-on-year.

  • Bulk orders increased by nearly 120%.

The surge highlights growing trust among business buyers who are leveraging Amazon for large-scale procurement during festive sales.

Digital Payments and Amazon Pay Usage Soar

Amazon revealed that one in every four customers used Amazon Pay to complete transactions during the event.

  • UPI transactions accounted for 25% of total orders, up 23% year-on-year.

  • EMI options were popular across high-value categories such as mobiles, TVs, large appliances, and electronics.

In fact, one in six purchases was made using EMI, and 80% of these were through No-Cost EMI (NCEMI) offers. The company also saw a 10% increase in NCEMI adoption across segments like fashion, grocery, baby, and pet products.

Conclusion

The Great Indian Festival 2025 has proven to be Amazon India’s most successful edition yet, driven by record visits, unprecedented seller participation, and rapid adoption from smaller towns. With a few days still remaining in the sale, Amazon is set to surpass previous benchmarks in customer engagement, seller growth, and digital payment adoption—cementing its leadership in India’s e-commerce landscape.
