News Synopsis

Jeff Bezos's Amazon may be out of the race for Indian Premier League media rights to stream IPL cricket matches. If this happens, then the Reliance of Mukesh Ambani will become a strong contender to get the media rights. According to a report by Bloomberg, Amazon is planning to get out of the war for media rights worth $7.7 billion or about Rs 60,000 crore.

According to sources, the American giant has already invested more than $6 billion in the country. Now spending more just for the online streaming rights of IPL is beyond business sense. Amazon representatives have not officially given any information yet.

Once Amazon exits the race, there will be a competition between Mukesh Ambani's Reliance, Disney, and Sony Group Corp for media rights. The claim of Reliance seems to be strong. Let us tell you that whichever company acquires the media rights, it can strengthen its position as a major media player in India. This e-auction will start on June 12. Currently, the only live streaming platform for IPL in India is Disney Plus Hotstar.
