News Synopsis

Amazon.com Inc. Consumer CEO Dave Clark announces plans to leave the company on Friday, behind the massive warehousing and logistics expansion of high-tech giants until the end of the pandemic.

Clark, a 23-year veteran of online retailer, managed all logistics at Amazon until January 2021. Last year, he was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the company's consumer organization, leading an unprecedented wave of recruitment and expanding its extensive supply network.

The e-commerce giant recently admitted that it was overbuilt during the pandemic. According to a person familiar with the issue, the company is currently subleasing at least 10 million square feet of storage space and is evaluating the option of terminating or renegotiating a lease with an outside warehouse owner.

Clark is known for speaking out loud within Amazon's leadership team. His continuum of competition was often shown on his Twitter account. Last year he tweeted. "We often say that we are employers' Bernie Sanders, but that's not entirely true because we offer a progressive workplace."
