Akasa Airlines will Commence its Operations in June

News Synopsis

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akasa Air Vinay Dube informed that the airline backed by eminent investor and trader, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, is likely to begin its commercial operations in the month of June this year. While speaking at the recently organized Wings India 2022, Mr. Dube said in the next five years, the airline hopes to operate a fleet of 72 airplanes. While answering a question at the event he said: "We hope to launch our first commercial flight in the month of June. We are working very closely with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation) to get our licensing done. We are very excited and serve number of people with warmth and affection and kindness.” Mr. Dube further informed that the company plans to induct 18 airplanes in the first year of its launch and then add 12 to 14 every year. Initially, Akasa Air will operate flights from metropolitan cities to tier II and tier III cities apart from metros to metros. According to the CEO, they are planning to commence overseas flights in the second half of  2023 once it adds 20 airplanes to its fleet.
