After Air India These PSUs can be Privatised as well

News Synopsis

Recently, airline, Air India was sold off to the Tata Sons as privatization of the Public Sector Undertakings. The news about the privatization of more of the Public Sector Undertakings is coming after this. The secretary in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) has said in an interview that he is confident about the privatization of more PSUs in the Financial Year 2021-22. A list of Public Sector Undertakings is released which can be privatized in the financial year 2021-22. These are some of the PSUs that can be privatized this year;

  • BEML Limited
  • Shipping Corporation of India(SCI)
  • Nilanchal Ispat
  • Pawan Hans
  • Central Electronics Limited
  • Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL)
  • Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI)
  • Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR)

 Pandey also talked about how selling the PSUs may not generate as much money as expected. He further said that the privatization of BPCL or LIC IPO can be a big transaction in this manner but corporations like Shipping Corporation and BEML cannot generate a big amount as expected.
