News Synopsis

Hindenburg Research, a short seller, has announced the release of another "big" report. Short seller has gone viral with this new announcement, just weeks after the scathing Hindenburg report on the Gautam Adani-led Adani Group and companies caused havoc.

Hindenburg Research simply stated in a viral tweet that another report will be released soon and that it will be 'big.' While the short seller has not specified when or for whom this report will be released, the viral tweet has left others guessing what it may be.

"New report soon—another big one,"  Hindenburg Research wrote in the viral tweet.

Hindenburg Research (as the website states) was founded by Nate Anderson and "specialises in forensic financial research."  While the short seller was recognized for its international reports, its report on the Adani Group made it immensely prominent in the Indian market. The report, which sent Adani Group stocks to a new low following a major sell-off, accused the Adani Group of fraud and stock manipulation.

Furthermore, the repercussions of the Hindenburg report were so severe that the Gautam Adani-led business opted to withdraw the Rs 20,000 crore follow-on public offer (FPO).

What is Hindenburg Research?

It is a financial research company that was founded in the United States. Accounting irregularities, unlawful or unethical practices, and undisclosed concerns are all investigated.

According to its website, "Our experience in the investment management industry spans decades, with a historical focus on equity, credit, and derivatives analysis".

It continues, "While we use fundamental analysis to aid our investment decision-making, we believe the most impactful research results from uncovering hard-to-find information from atypical sources".

What is the meaning of the name "Hindenburg" Research?

It was named after the Hindenburg disaster, which occurred in 1937 when a German passenger airship caught fire, killing 35 people.

"We view the Hindenburg as the epitome of a totally man-made, totally avoidable disaster. Almost 100 people were loaded onto a balloon filled with the most flammable element in the universe (hydrogen). This was despite dozens of earlier hydrogen-based aircraft meeting with similar fates. Nonetheless, the operators of the Hindenburg forged ahead, adopting the oft-cited Wall Street maxim of 'this time is different',"  According to its website.

"We look for similar man-made disasters floating around in the market and aim to shed light on them before they lure in more unsuspecting victims," It continues.
