News Synopsis

India had a fantastic day in the Common Wealth Games 2022, when Achanta Sharath Kamal and Sreeja Akula won gold in the table tennis mixed doubles event on the 10th day of the Games. Nikhat Zareen (women's light flyweight), Amit Panghal (men's flyweight), and Nitu Ganghas (women's minimumweight) all won their finals. Eldhose Paul (17.03m jump for gold) and Abdulla Aboobacker Narangolintevid won the top two medals in the men's triple jump (17.02 jump for silver).

The Indian women's cricket team also fell in the final to Australia. Annu Rani and Sandeep Kumar, respectively, won bronze medals for India in the women's javelin throw and the men's 10km race walk. Indian shuttlers Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu have advanced to the finals of the men's and women's singles events, respectively. Kidambi Srikanth took bronze in men's singles, while Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand took bronze in women's doubles semi-finals. Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India have advanced to the final and will compete for gold today. Saurav Ghosal and Dipika Pallikal won bronze in mixed doubles squash.

In table tennis, Achanta Sharath Kamal reached the men's singles final, but G Sathiyan was eliminated in the semi-finals. Earlier, Sharath Kamal and Sathiyan were defeated in the table men's doubles final by England's Paul Drinkhall/Liam Pitchford and had to settle with silver. India also took bronze in women's hockey, defeating New Zealand in a shootout. Sagar Ahlawat was defeated in the super heavyweight final.
