5G Service Now Available In 50 Indian Cities And Towns

India is quickly gaining 5G connection thanks to Reliance Jio and Airtel. Since the launch of 5G services on October 1, telecom providers have expanded 5G coverage to 50 Indian cities (until December 7) and are adding more virtually every day.

Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed at a recent Parliament Question Hour that 50 Indian cities have now received 5G connectivity in the last two months. He stated in response to a question about the rollout of 5G in Parliament that  "Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) have started providing 5G services in the country from 01.10.2022 onwards and as of 26.11.2022, 5G services have started in 50 towns,"

Ashwini further responded that telecom operators are offering 5G connectivity in 5G devices at no additional cost when asked about 5G tariffs for devices. Additionally, telecoms' technological and commercial considerations would decide how far fifth-gen connectivity will be rolled out.

Additionally, Airtel 5G Plus is available at a number of airports, including Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur,  Lohegaon Airport in Pune, Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, and Kempegowda International Airport of Bengaluru.

Significantly, Reliance Jio and Airtel are the only two telecom providers in India offering 5G services. By 2024, Jio and Airtel both intend to roll out 5G across the country. By December 2023, Jio, which is run by Mukesh Ambani, hopes to be in all key Indian cities.

However, several telecom providers, including as BSNL and Vodafone Idea (Vi), have yet to roll out their 5G services. While BSNL intends to roll out 4G services at the beginning of 2023, followed by 5G in the middle or by the end of the following year, Vi is trying to establish its 5G network in India while encountering financial difficulties.
