30.68 lakh tonne sugar exported in October-January: AISTA

All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA) on Monday announced that Sugar Mills in India exported 30.68 lakh tonnes of sugar between October 2021 and January 2022. India is one of the leading sugar-producing countries in the world. AISTA also informed that about 6.32 lakh tonne sugar is still on its way to different nations around the globe. A noteworthy fact is that all this sugar is exported without any subsidy provided by Government. AISTA also expressed its concern over the scarcity of available rail wagons to transport sugar from mills in Maharashtra and Karnataka for export. The sugar trade body also informed the current sugar price in the global market is somewhat around 18.25 per pound.
