Zee and Sony Finalise Deal, Become the Second Largest Entertainment Network of India

Sony Entertainment and Zee Entertainment have finalized the merger deal, forming the second-largest entertainment network in India. The merger will include more than 75 TV channels, film assets, and two streaming platforms. 

The merger was announced on December 21, where Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) will have nearly 51% of the combined entity. The merger will be headed by Punit Goenka the Chief executive officer of Zee after a 90 day due diligence period.

The CEO of Zee, Punit Goenka has also said that with this merger both the operators will try to provide wider content choices to their customers. Both the firms have a wide audience on their popular channels and the streaming platforms SonyLIV and Zee5.
