News Synopsis

Chinese electronics maker Xiaomi announced a reorganization of its Indian leadership team on Friday. Alvin Tse, a founding team member of Xiaomi Global, a founding member of POCO, and a former general manager of Xiaomi Indonesia, will assume the role of general manager of Xiaomi India, the company said.

This move follows Manu Kumar Jain's recent global role as Group Vice President in charge of international strategy, including international marketing and PR.

Xiaomi also announced that Anuj Sharma will return to Xiaomi India as Chief Marketing Officer. According to the company, in this role, Anuj Sharma will lead the further development and implementation of the overall branding and marketing strategy.

Xiaomi India has been accused of taking money abroad by falsely claiming that it intends to pay patent fees by India's Money Laundering agency Enforcement Directorate. The agency seized more than $700 million from a local unit of a Chinese smartphone maker in April. This move was shelved until a final court decision was made.
