News Synopsis

WHO has given a warning on the shortage of around one to two billion syringes for covid-19 vaccination by 2022. The World Health Organization also advised the National Health Authorities to be prepared for this in advance.

WHO expert Lisa Hedman has said that this shortage can lead to serious problems such as slowing of immunization process. Hedman also said this could have other multiple outcomes like delay in routine vaccination and could lead to the unsafe practice of reusing syringes and needles, especially in poor countries. She has suggested the production of the right kind of devices for the vaccine shots towards meeting this shortage.
