Wassim Jaffer has parted ways with his IPL Franchise, Punjab Kings. He announced that he is stepping down as Punjab Kings batting coach just before the IPL 2022 Mega auction. He in his typical style, tweeted a picture of Arijit Singh's famous song ‘channa mereya’ from the film ‘Ae Dil hai Mushkil’ and wrote: "Adios, and thank you @PunjabKingsIPL, it's been a pleasure. Wishing @anilkumble1074 and the team very best for #IPL2022”. Wassim Jaffer is a former Indian opener and used to play from the Mumbai Ranji team. He is popularly known for his humorous social media posts and when he is not occupied by cricket, you can find him in banter with English cricketer Michael Vaughan. Punjab kings have only retained Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh this year. K L Rahul who led the team for two years also left before the auctions. He will now captain the new franchise of Lucknow Supergiants.
