Vedanta to Modify One of its Waste Heat Recovery Plants

Vedanta plans to change the design of one of its heat recovery plants in Goa and reoptimize its turbines using special technology to increase power generation by another 5 MW, a company official said. 

Sujal Shah, CEO- of the iron ore business, Vedanta Ltd said, “Vedanta's iron ore business has two power plants of 30 MW (each). Once we complete optimization of one power plant, we will replicate the same for another one.” Vedanta has earlier used this technology to increase power generation at one of its power plants in Rajasthan.

He said the company plans to invest in this technology, adding that it's just a more efficient technology upgrade. Similarly, the company plans to install waste power plants in the coke oven batteries of its newly acquired coking plants in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The company is also considering 10 tonnes of carbon utilization and storage units per day to produce carbon products. To become a net-zero organization, Vedanta's Sesa Goa Iron Ore business has adopted a variety of green technology and process optimization innovations.
