USA Imposes Visa Restrictions on 5 Cuban Officials

In a press release, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the United States has imposed visa restrictions on five senior Cuban government officials due to violating human rights including unfair trials and detention.

Blinken said the statement that the Department of State has decided to impose the visa restrictions by taking necessary steps on five Cuban officials pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 5377, which suspends nonimmigrant entry into the United States Officer and employees of the Cuban government.

These five officials are associated with the unfair trial of July 11, 2021, and the unjustified judgment and detention of peaceful protesters. The announcement of this visa restriction corresponds to the actions of Cuban government officials denying the basic human rights and freedoms of Cubans.
