News Synopsis

The world's largest professional network LinkedIn and UN Women have joined hands to empower women financially. LinkedIn will invest Rs 3.88 crore under this partnership. This project will first start in Maharashtra on a trial basis. In this, training of skills required for digital, soft and employment will be given to about 2 thousand women. After this, many employment opportunities will be provided to them through employment fairs, mentoring sessions and peer-to-peer network.

This project of partnership between the two companies is for three years. After a 15-month, UN Women and LinkedIn will revamp their program as needed and then take it to other countries in the Asia-Pacific.

According to LinkedIn Manager Ashutosh Gupta will collaborate with UN Women to develop women's digital capability and then increase their participation in the formal economy. Along with this, appropriate skills and resources will be made available to women.

Let us tell you that in the Asia Pacific region, women have much less access to the Internet than men. In such a situation, it becomes very difficult to formulate a technology policy based on gender equality in the Asia Pacific region. Men in this region have 54.6% internet access. Whereas women have 41.3% internet access.
