Union Minister Stressed the Substitution of Diesel with Alternative Fuels

Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways has said that biodiesel in the Construction Equipment space is an import substitute, cost-effective, indigenous, and pollution-free. The Union Minister talked about the substitution of diesel with alternative fuels during the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association  summit on ‘Indian CE Industry’s Roadmap for Biodiesel adoption.’ He said around 40% of India’s diesel consumption pertains to all road use like agriculture, construction, mining, shipping, and railways. The Union Minister also said that climate change is a matter of grave importance. The rising fuel prices in the country are a huge burden on the contractors and developers. He said that India is importing 85% of its crude oil which costs Rs 8 lakh to the economy every year. Substitution of diesel with alternative fuels like biodiesel, CNG, and bio-ethanol is important to reduce hazardous emissions and cut huge import deals.
