News Synopsis

The Google Cloud data centre in London had an outage on Tuesday as the UK's temperature hit a record high this year, according to sources. A "cooling related" failure at one of the buildings, according to Google Cloud, started around 1:13 PM ET (6:13 pm BST).

According to the status page update, a "small set" of clients are affected. A portion of the problem is still present. On Tuesday, Britain saw its warmest day ever as the heatwave engulfing Europe worsened, causing railway lines to break and igniting a number of fires throughout London.

Two days ago, proposal for "too hot to work" law was also kept by a union in England.  In light of analysts' predictions for an all-time high temperature of 41C (106F) in England, the Gas Workers and General Labourers (GMB) union stated that employees shouldn't have to deal with temperatures above 25C.

On Monday and Tuesday, a region that includes London, Manchester, and York is under the Met Office's highest warning. There is presently no legal definition of "too hot" or "too cold" for work in the UK or Ireland. However, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recommends that workplaces be at least 16C, or 13C if the employment is primarily strenuous.
