GeM and Udyam Join Hands to Empower MSMEs

Government e-Marketplace (GeM), the public procurement platform of the Government of India, and Udyam, the government's MSME registration portal, have forged a partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration aims to facilitate data sharing and market linkages for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), promoting their growth and enhancing ease of doing business.

Strengthening MSMEs through Data Sharing and Workshops

The Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Narayan Rane, took to Twitter to announce the MoU between Udyam and GeM. According to the minister, the agreement includes sharing data, conducting workshops, facilitating market linkages, and promoting the Public Procurement Policy. These initiatives are expected to ignite a new era of growth and unleash the potential of India's small businesses.

Workshops and Training for MSMEs

As part of the collaboration, GeM will organize workshops and training sessions for MSMEs registered on the Udyam platform. These sessions will aim to familiarize MSE sellers with the GeM portal and its functionalities, equipping them with the knowledge to leverage the public procurement opportunities effectively. Seamless Onboarding and Market Linkages

Through API integration, GeM and Udyam will enable the seamless sharing of data between the two platforms. This integration will simplify the process for MSEs to register and onboard GeM, reducing it to just two steps. Furthermore, GeM will facilitate online market linkages for last-mile MSMEs, ensuring their participation in public procurement.

Participation in Trade Fairs and Make in India Initiatives

GeM currently boasts a registered seller base of 65.42 lakh, with 8.32 lakh micro and small sellers. On the other hand, Udyam has witnessed the registration of over 2.06 crore MSMEs, including 1.99 crore micro-enterprises, 6 lakh small enterprises, and approximately 52,688 medium enterprises.
