Uber not to Accept Payments on Amex & Diners cards

US company Uber has issued a message to its customers saying that it will not be able to accept American Express and Diners Club cards for making payments in the future. Along with this, Uber has also rejected those reports, in which claims were being made that the company was winding up its business from India. 

Uber India said in a statement that from June 28, 2022, we will no longer be able to accept American Express and Diners Club cards as payment methods. The company further informed that RBI has changed the guidelines for storing card details by merchants for transactions in India. Hence the company does not currently support network tokenization for American Express and Diners Club cards. 

Apart from this, Uber also said that the company has no plans to exit India. Uber further said that Uber is as important for India as it was at the time of its launch nine years ago.
