News Synopsis

According to a report by The Information, Chief Executive Officer of Apple, Tim Cook has secretly signed a deal with China to reduce the threats that are affecting its services in the country. The deal is estimated to be worth $275 billion. Tim Cook himself prepared the agreement himself during a visit in 2016 to the country.

The report also mentioned that Apple executives who were worried about the brands’ bad publicity in China urged for this compliance. A Memorandum of Understanding was also drawn between the company and a government agency. Tim Cook also announced an investment in Chinese ride-hailing startup DiDi, in order to satisfy the Chinese authorities.
