News Synopsis

The popular short video application, TikTok has launched ‘TikTok Kitchens’ along with the Virtual Dining Concepts. Under this new partnership, TikTok is planning to serve the most viral foods on the platform. The services of this kitchen will start in 2022 with 300 locations.  The companies will follow the ghost kitchen trend where the consumer can either order or take drive-through orders instead of a traditional restaurant with a physical storefront.

The company took the decision after food-related content started getting attention due to the recipe experimentation and cooking hacks videos. Such videos have gained over 11.5 billion views as of December. The customers will be able to place the order through Grubhub. The press release of the company also mentioned that the user's restaurants across the country can also apply to be a ‘market partner’ which will allow them to host food preparation for TikTok Kitchens. Starting with 300 locations in March 2022, the company is aiming at 1,000 locations by the end of 2022.
