News Synopsis

According to the data released from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the unemployment rate in India rose to 7.9% in December. This is the highest unemployment rate recorded in the last four months till December 2021.

Earlier the highest unemployment rate was recorded in August last year, which was 8.3%.

After facing the effects of the pandemic last year, the Indian economy is once again facing the severe effects of the Omicron variant. This has led many states to have more social distancing restrictions in many states.
