Tesla will accept the Meme-Based Cryptocurrency, Dogecoin for Merchandise

News Synopsis

The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk has announced that the electric vehicle company is now accepting the meme-based digital currency Dogecoin as payment for its merchandise. Like always Elon Musk made the announcement through Twitter where he said, “Tesla merch buyable with Dogecoin.”

The meme based crypto surged up to $0.20 after the announcement. The merchandise of the Tesla includes ‘Giga Texas’ belt buckles and mini models of its vehicles along with some limited edition items like ‘Cyberwhistle’.

Elon Musk is known for his support for cryptocurrencies. Dogecoin is the second crypto after Bitcoin to which the individual is supporting, and for his support, he is even being given the title of “Dogefather”. 

Dogecoin was invented by software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer for creating a payment system.

The CEO also confirmed that the company is soon going to resume taking Bitcoin payments after some improvements in the energy mix used to mine the cryptocurrency.
