News Synopsis

To create 1,000 Green Energy Businesses throughout the nation, Tata Power's subsidiary TP Renewable Microgrid (TPRMG) and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) have partnered together. According to SIDBI's news release, the programme aims to advance sustainable entrepreneurial models and strengthen rural entrepreneurs. The main drivers behind this relationship, according to them, are SIDBI's "Empowering MSMEs" initiative and Tata Power's "Sustainable is Attainable" programme.

The entrepreneurs chosen for the programme will need to finish a TPRMG-organized capacity-building exercise in order to obtain a Go REsponsive, ENterprise incentive (GREENi) from SIDBI. Through its PRAYAAS scheme or partner institutions, the latter will also help rural business owners by facilitating financial links that will facilitate loans and capital to start or develop their operations.

In order to offer them inexpensive green energy solutions and technical knowledge, TPRMG will be tasked with selecting entrepreneurs from both their current Microgrid network and from new places.

According to Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD of Tata Power, “This innovative programme intends to develop skills to enable low-carbon futures for rural entrepreneurs and economies and to assist in Ease of Doing Business in rural parts of the country,”

Sivasubramanian Ramanan, Chairman and Managing Director of SIDBI, expressed his hope that this would inspire Indian youth who are drawn to the creation of new jobs to start living sustainably right away.
