News Synopsis

The Tata Nexon continues to dominate India’s compact SUV segment, emerging as the best-selling car in November with 22,434 units sold. With competitive pricing, multiple powertrain options, 5-star safety ratings, and modern features, the Nexon has maintained strong demand, outperforming rivals like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV 3XO.

Tata Nexon Tops Sales Charts in November

Tata Motors’ compact SUV Nexon has once again emerged as India’s best-selling car, outperforming major automakers such as Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai Motor India, and Mahindra & Mahindra. In November, 22,434 units were sold, making Nexon the most popular car in the country. This also marks a hat-trick, as Nexon led sales in October (22,083 units) and September (22,573 units).

Interestingly, Nexon has consistently sold over 22,000 units in each of the past three months, highlighting its sustained demand in India’s highly competitive sub-4-meter SUV segment—a segment traditionally dominated by Maruti Suzuki.

SUV Segment Leader for Years

The Nexon has long been one of Tata’s most trusted and top-selling cars. It has been India’s best-selling SUV for three consecutive financial years, recording:

  • FY2022: 1.24 lakh units

  • FY2023: 1.72 lakh units

  • FY2024: 1.71 lakh units

Although FY2025 saw a slight dip to 1.63 lakh units, Nexon’s sales remained robust. In FY2026, the model has already crossed 1.30 lakh units.

GST 2.0 Price Cut Boosts Demand

A key factor behind the recent surge is the GST 2.0 revision, which reduced Nexon’s prices by up to ₹1.55 lakh. This price correction enhanced its competitiveness across SUV and hatchback segments. Tata Motors also offers additional consumer incentives.

With ex-showroom prices starting at ₹7.32 lakh, the Nexon now appeals to a broad range of buyers, both above and below its traditional segment.

Multiple Powertrain Options Drive Demand

Nexon’s diverse powertrain lineup remains a major strength:

  • 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine with multiple gearbox options

  • Petrol-CNG variant

  • 1.5-liter diesel engine with manual and automatic transmissions

Tata’s twin-cylinder CNG technology maximizes boot space and reduces running costs, appealing to budget-conscious buyers.

Electric Variant Strengthens Market Presence

The Nexon EV offers a compelling electric option:

  • 45 kWh version: 350–375 km real-world driving range

  • 30 kWh version: ~210–230 km range

5-Star Safety Ratings Enhance Popularity

Safety has been a key factor in Nexon’s success. Both ICE and EV versions have earned 5-star ratings in Bharat NCAP testing. Tata now has multiple 5-star rated models, including:

  • Altroz

  • Punch EV

  • Curvv
