News Synopsis

In a significant development within the food tech industry, Kouzina Food Tech has signed a strategic agreement with Swiggy, granting it exclusive licensing rights for four of Swiggy’s digital-first food brands.

The brands include The Bowl Company, Homely, Soul Rasa, and Istah. The partnership marks a milestone in Kouzina’s mission to enhance its operations and expand its portfolio of virtual food brands.

Kouzina Takes Over Swiggy’s Digital Food Brands

As part of the agreement, Kouzina will take full control of the operations, business growth, and innovation for these brands. The deal also includes a provision where Swiggy will transfer complete ownership of the brands to Kouzina after certain predefined conditions are met.

The Bowl Company, one of Swiggy’s most successful brands, has made waves in the Indian digital food market since its launch in 2017. The brand specializes in offering single-serve meals with a wide variety of options suitable for students, professionals, and families. Signature offerings include the Peri Peri Chicken Rice Bowl, Nawabi Paneer Lababdar Rice Bowl, and Dhaba Style Dal Tadka Rice Bowl.

Kouzina Expands its Portfolio with New Food Segments

With the acquisition of Swiggy’s brands, Kouzina’s already diverse portfolio expands further to cater to a wide range of food segments. The company's existing brand lineup includes daily meal options, thalis (with brands like Mealy and Homely), along with premium and international cuisine offerings through The Bowl Company and Istah.

Additionally, Kouzina continues to diversify with regional and indulgent foods, adding brands like Vasudev Adiga’s, WarmOven, KaatiZone, MomoZone, and Mad Over Parathas & Pakodas to its portfolio. This diverse range ensures that Kouzina caters to various consumer preferences, from quick meals to more premium dining experiences.

Kouzina’s Operations and Expansion Plans

Currently operating through a network of over 250 kitchen partners across more than 100 cities in India, Kouzina has positioned itself as a major player in the cloud kitchen space. The company’s expansion into new digital-first brands, such as those acquired from Swiggy, is expected to boost its order volumes and streamline its cloud kitchen operations.

Kouzina has also made a series of strategic acquisitions, including the Vasudev Adiga’s restaurant chain and a significant investment in MOPP Foods, the latter being known for its appearance on Shark Tank India. The company is further growing its franchise network and is actively seeking new partners to join its journey.

Kouzina’s Vision for Sustainable Growth and Future Plans

Kouzina’s focus is on scalability and sustainability. With the rapid growth of food delivery and the increasing popularity of cloud kitchens in India, the company plans to scale its operations further, tapping into evolving consumer preferences. Kouzina’s future plans include going public within the next five years, signaling its intention to become a major player in India’s food tech space.
