News Synopsis

After his spectacular performance during India's successful T20I series in New Zealand, Suryakumar Yadav has secured his position atop the ICC's T20I rankings for batters. Against New Zealand, Suryakumar scored an undefeated 111 runs off 51 balls in the second T20I. It was the only match in the series that could be finished; the other two were called off due to rain during India's chase, with the third game finishing in a tie.

With 890 points, Suryakumar is still 54 points clear of Pakistan's Mohammed Rizwan, who is ranked second, due to the 31 rating points he has gained during the series.

Contrarily, Hardik Pandya, who captained India against New Zealand in the series, moved up to joint-fifty among hitters due to his unbeaten 30 in the finals game. Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has moved up two spots to position 11 in the bowlers' rankings, while left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh has moved up one spot to position 21. Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has moved up eight spots to position forty.

In the ODI rankings, legendary former captain Virat Kohli has moved up to sixth place, while captain Rohit Sharma has remained at number eight. The highest-ranked Indian bowler on the list is the injured Jasprit Bumrah, who is ranked eleventh.

After a record-breaking 269-run partnership at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Australia's opening pair of David Warner and Travis Head have risen significantly in the ODI player rankings, while Steve Smith's steady play in the home series against England has helped him reach a career-best equaling the seventh position.

A score of 106 in the decisive game let Warner, a former top-ranked batter, finish with 240 runs and take up the Player of the Series honour, moving him up one notch to fifth place on the list.
