News Synopsis

The parent company of Chrysler, Stellantis is recalling 19,808 plug-in hybrid minivans and has also requested owners not to recharge the minivans. The company is recalling vehicles after reports of 12 fires in parked vehicles.

The company has said that the recall includes 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid vehicles. The company says that it is unaware of any injuries or accidents. The vehicles that were caught on fire, were parked and turned off and eight of them were connected to chargers.

The company is still working to confirm the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, owners can keep operating the vehicles during the internal combustion engine. The recall includes 16,741 vehicles in the United States of America, 2,317 in Canada, and another 750 outside North America.

In August, the largest US automaker expanded bolt recalls to more than 140,000  to replace battery modules after a series of fires. GM has also suspended retail sales of new bolt cars indefinitely.
