News Synopsis

Tata Starbucks has achieved a significant milestone by inaugurating its 100th store in Mumbai, a city central to its journey in India over the past 12 years. As the brand steps into 2025, it pays homage to Mumbai’s vibrant culture and unwavering spirit, which have been instrumental in shaping its growth and innovation.

From its first store at Horniman Circle to India's inaugural Starbucks Reserve store, Starbucks has expanded its footprint in Mumbai, offering premium coffee experiences. Highlights include its experiential store in Colaba, featuring 16 varieties of coffee, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation.

Sushant Dash on Mumbai’s Role in Starbucks’ Journey

Sushant Dash, CEO of Tata Starbucks, stated, “Marking our 100th store in Mumbai is a celebration of the enduring bond we share with this incredible city. Mumbai has inspired us with its energy and diversity, allowing us to innovate and grow. We are excited to continue bringing unique coffee experiences to this great city while honouring its stories.”

Innovative Beverages Inspired by Mumbai

To commemorate the 100th store milestone, Starbucks has launched two exclusive beverages reflecting Mumbai’s rich and distinctive flavour culture:

  1. Bombón Cloud: A creamy blend of condensed milk, ristretto shots, and coconut-flavoured foam, served in a chic cortado glass. This indulgent drink captures Mumbai’s flair for the dramatic.

  2. Kala Khatta Cold Brew: Inspired by Chowpatty’s nostalgic kaala khatta golas, this drink combines Starbucks’ signature arabica cold brew with icy, zesty flavours, offering a refreshing sip of nostalgia.

Collaboration with Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh

To elevate the celebrations, Bollywood duo Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh, founders of Imagine Foods, have partnered with Starbucks to create unique food offerings inspired by Mumbai’s street food culture. The menu includes:

  • Reverse Vada Pav: A spiced vada in a soft brioche bun with garlic chutney and thecha aioli.

  • Pav Bhaji Pull-Apart: Flavour-packed pull-apart buns filled with classic pav bhaji essence.

  • Kheema Danish: A flaky pastry filled with spicy kheema, merging bold and buttery flavours.

“Mumbai’s culinary heritage is unlike any other,” said Genelia Deshmukh. “Through this collaboration, we’ve infused innovation into iconic street flavours, paying tribute to the city’s love for food.”

Anamika Khanna + Starbucks Merchandise

Adding to the celebrations, Starbucks has collaborated with renowned designer Anamika Khanna to create an exclusive merchandise collection. This artistic line showcases Mumbai’s eclectic character and vibrant spirit.

The Anamika Khanna + Starbucks Collection will be available later this month at select stores in key locations such as Bandra, Colaba, Worli, and Juhu, offering customers the chance to own a piece of this tribute to Mumbai.

Conclusion: A Tribute to Mumbai’s Legacy

Starbucks’ 100th store in Mumbai is more than a milestone; it’s a testament to the brand’s journey and connection with the city. Through innovative beverages, collaborations, and merchandise, Tata Starbucks honours Mumbai’s dynamic culture, setting the stage for a future filled with creativity and excellence.
