News Synopsis

SpaceX has made a special shipment of some of the items to the International Space Station. It includes Christmas presents, roast turkey, and a specially developed detergent. Developed by Proctor and Gamble, the parent company of Tide is used for a specific scientific experiment.

The experiment is to test how the detergent launders the cloths in space. According to the press release, a total of 160 pounds of clothing per crew member is launched to the International Space Station every year. PerSpace.com, NASA has also estimated that without laundry, astronauts would need 500 pounds of clothing each for a single trip to Mars.

The partnership with Tide was announced in June. After the launch of this specially developed detergent, the company is planning to ship up stain removal products including Tide To Go Wipes and Tide To Go Pens for testing of microgravity in space.
