News Synopsis

Slack, an American workplace collaboration platform, has been officially launched in India. The company said it's on a mission to help Indian companies move to a hybrid workplace by establishing a digital headquarters (“Digital HQ”).

Slack's long-standing advocacy of a digital-first approach to work has strengthened Slack's leadership in the workplace collaboration space with the rapid transition of Slack to remote work in early 2020 due to a pandemic.

As the impact of the pandemic has eased and Indian companies are increasingly moving to a hybrid work model, Slack is moving executives to pay attention to the design of digital workspaces, similar to the design of physical offices before the pandemic.

In July 2021, Salesforce.com completed the acquisition of Slack Technologies Inc. for $27.7 billion. Salesforce has been operating in India since 2005 and currently employs more than 6,500 people in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.

With users in more than 150 countries around the world, Slack has already gained a lot of support in India. It's one of Slack's largest free user bases and is one of the top 10 paid team markets in the world.
