News Synopsis

Elon Musk termed some environmentalists "anti-human" for calling for the shutdown of nuclear power plants, calling such actions "insane" for the sake of national security. On Friday, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX tweeted about nuclear power. "Countries should be increasing nuclear power generation! It is insane from a national security standpoint & bad for the environment to shut them down "Musk wrote.

Responding on Twitter, Scott Morefield said: "Nuclear is clean, efficient, and could replace fossil fuels entirely if it was embraced. It's not, because so-called environmentalists aren't pro clean energy, they are anti-human."

Musk tweeted in response, "Some are indeed sadly anti-human." Due to safety concerns raised by high-profile tragedies like Chernobyl and Fukushima, nuclear energy is an unpopular form of renewable energy.

According to a report sent to the US Congress last year, 12 nuclear reactors have been permanently shut down since 2012. According to IAEA data, 203 reactors producing 98,000 megawatts have been shut down.

Musk has been a strong supporter of nuclear energy as a renewable energy source, particularly after Russia's invasion of Ukraine caused oil and gas prices to soar, in addition to issuing warnings against population collapse, which he stated this week is a greater threat to civilization than global warming.

According to Musk, shutting down nuclear plants would be "total madness". until other energy sources, including solar, were more reliable.
