Lately, India’s neighbor, Pakistan is going through massive political turmoil. Amid the chaos, there are reports indicating that the leader of the opposition in Pakistan’s National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif is likely to replace Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. This is possible if the no-trust vote against the current government succeeds. It is scheduled to be held today. Mr. Sharif has been leading the campaign against the Khan’s government.

He has also emerged as the Opposition’s sole candidate for the post of prime minister. Mr. Shehbaz Sharif is the brother of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif. He has been the leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018. He has been the Chief Minister of Punjab thrice. He is the longest-serving Chief Minister of the state. On March 28, he proposed the no-confidence resolution against Imran Khan. After the 1999 Military coup, Shehbaz along with his family spent years of self-exile in Saudi Arabia. He returned to the country in 2007. In the year, he was apprehended by the National Accountability Bureau on charges of money laundering.
